Point cloud is an important type of geometric data structure. They are simple and unified structures that avoid the combinatorial irregularities and complexities of meshes. These properties make point clouds widely used for 3D reconstruction or visual understanding applications, such as AR, autonomous driving, and robotics. This course will teach how we apply deep learning methods to point cloud data. We will cover the following topics in this short course and will end with some open problems.

• Basic neural architectures to process point cloud as input or to generate point cloud as output
• Scene-level understanding of static and dynamic point clouds
• Point cloud based inverse graphics
• Learning to convert point cloud to other 3D representations
• Learning to map point cloud with data in other modalities (images, languages)

Snowfall walk in Times Square, New York City. It's been a year since I last visited New York. I didn't plan a route for this video. My friend living in Brooklyn sent me a text that there would be snowfall in New York the following morning, so I made a 14-hour drive up to New York the day before and crashed in my hotel room in Times Square at 2 am. The next morning it started to snow, but I was still totally exhausted from the night before. This walk is a bit aimless and mostly around Times Square because I had to start work immediately after and was already out of it. I wanted to capture the contrast between this video and my previous videos from 2019. New York is so quiet. Early apologies for all of the cuts in the recording. I stopped to clear water residue off of my camera lens every so often. Binaural audio for an immersive experience.

Lecture by Professor Andrew Ng for Machine Learning (CS 229) in the Stanford Computer Science department. Professor Ng lectures on Bayesian statistics, regularization, digression-online learning, and the applications of machine learning algorithms.

This course provides a broad introduction to machine learning and statistical pattern recognition. Topics include supervised learning, unsupervised learning, learning theory, reinforcement learning and adaptive control. Recent applications of machine learning, such as to robotic control, data mining, autonomous navigation, bioinformatics, speech recognition, and text and web data processing are also discussed.
